As the first smartphone ever, the Redmi 10X 5G uses the new Mediatek Dimensity 820. In our test, this selection turns out to be a quite good choice. In the benchmarks, the Redmi 10X in parts outclasses the smartphone competitors, and the Taiwanese manufacturer also improved the efficiency.
In our review, the 5G version of the Redmi 10X presents itself as an exciting mid-range smartphone in the lower price segment, which is also due to the MediaTek Dimensity 820. The new mid-range MediaTek SoC, consisting of four fast ARM Cortex A76 cores and four power-saving Cortex A55 cores, integrates a Mali G57 with 5 cores as the graphics card.
Its relatively high performance makes the affordable MediaTek processor very interesting. In combination with 8 GB of LPDDR4x dual-channel storage, the Dimensity 820 in our test unit ensures high performance capabilities.
In the comparison field of our test, the Redmi 10X 5G dominates even the Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G, and a Snapdragon 765G in the Oppo Find X2 Neo is also beaten by the Redmi 10X. The values we measured during our CPU benchmarks are almost at the level of a Xiaomi Mi 9 with last year’s Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 flagship SoC.
However, you should also be aware that the heat development inside the Redmi 10X 5G leads to a slight reduction in the performance of the MediaTek SoC. The Manhattan 3.1 test of the GFXBench app shows that the frame rate drops by about 15% with increasing load, so that the benchmark results could have turned out even better.
The system performance of the Redmi 10X 5G is also very good. In everyday operation, the system runs smoothly and there are almost no stutters. Thanks to the very fast UFS 2.1 storage, apps open without any larger delays.
