The Checkra1n jailbreak was recently updated to feature support for iOS 14.5 and compatibility with Macs sporting the M1 processor. Version 0.12.3 adds these new features, along with a host of bug fixes.

Checkra1n, a jailbreak tool for iPhone and iPad, recently received an update to version 0.12.3. The new Checkra1n update promises jailbreak support for iOS 14.5, along with a number of minor bugfixes. Checkra1n will also now feature support for M1 Macs. Earlier incompatibilities made it so that the new Mac couldn’t be used to jailbreak compatible iDevices, though that’s no longer an issue with 0.12.3.

iOS 14.5 and iPadOS 14.5 recently arrived, alongside the new M1-powered iPad Pro. This is an iterative update, though the new App Tracking Transparency feature is a big win for privacy-oriented users. Apart from that, some of Apple’s core apps have received redesigns, alongside a number of emojis.

If you’re looking to update to iOS 14.5 and maintain your jailbreak, Checkra1n appears to be the only option right now. Unc0ver supports a wider range of devices, but tops out at iOS 14.3. Windows users might have a bit of trouble installing Checkra1n. You’ll need to install Linux on a free partition or run it on a USB drive, as the program currently only supports Linux and MacOS environments.
