LAS VEGAS – Omar Morales beat Shane Young with a unanimous decision Saturday on the preliminary card at UFC 260 in Las Vegas.
Take a look inside the fight with Morales, who got back in the win column after the first loss of his career this past October to Giga Chikadze.
“In the first round, I noticed that my opponent was very strong and I couldn’t wear myself out, so I had to pay attention to what my corners were telling me and stick to the strategy.
“I studied all his fights and I thought he was going to exchange a little bit more, but I guess he came out with a good strategy as well. I didn’t expect for him to waste so much energy trying to take me down, but I worked my takedown defense, my groundwork was on point, I was able to counter that as well and come out with the victory.”
“I’m happy with my performance. My opponent showed to be a very tough fighter. He took all my punches. I tried to submit him, as well. I didn’t expect the fight to go three rounds, but congrats to my opponent – he did his job.
“I’m very happy to be part of a good fight card. I always choose tough opponents, and in the end, I was really happy to display all my skills and techniques against such a tough fighter as Shane Young.”
“My plan is to stay at 145 and keep winning. Lucky enough, I have all my friends coming down to visit me. They are waiting for me. I’m going to go out and party with them now.”
